replace traditional (incandescent) lightbulbs with compact fluorescents.  Their slightly higher cost is quickly made up for in your electric bill savings.  Another bonus to using these bulbs is they last alot longer than the old fashioned bulbs.
Have you tried this?  Did you notice a change in your bill?  If you haven’t tried it - why not?
